Hold the gym with bulk.

How motivation and decay work, plus the highest-bulk eligible defenders to leave behind.

How gyms work
Defenders hold a gym until their motivation runs out. High-bulk Pokémon decay slowest, so they make the stickiest defenders.

Motivation & CP decay

A defender's CP drops as its motivation decays over time. Lower motivation means it's easier to knock out. Bulk slows that decay.

Berries

Feeding berries (especially Golden Razz) restores motivation and earns Stardust, letting a strong defender hold longer.

Defender limit

A gym holds up to six Pokémon, one per trainer, and you can't stack two of the same species. Variety beats spam.

Coins & offense

You earn coins for time defended (capped daily). To take a gym, bring attackers that are super-effective against the defenders. See the raids, max, and invasions counter tools.
